Art Stuff...and more...

Sun Dec 14, 2008, 11:12 AM
Portland, OR arrives at Deviant!

I'm only a few days along with my arrival here at Deviant. I found this site through another art friend, collage artist, who lives in the area. (Many thanks for your direction!) We are in the middle of our first "big snow" here in Portland, so I have some time to work on my gallery. I'm about 10 years into my journey with art and have found that the combination of both assemblage and collage suits me the best. I have several pieces at a gallery in NW Portland (Cannibals Gallery) at the moment, but my big interest is joining the other "hundreds" of street artists on Alberta St. during the summer months for the Last Thursday Art Walk. That is where I met Will Luers,(Taylor Street Studio) professional filmmaker, who offered to make a short video of my process with art...sneak a peek:

Your gallery is phenomenal and inspiring. Do you show your work in galleries or exhibitions anywhere? I'd love to see it in real life. Although they show beautifully on-line as well.
Congrats on the tremendous body of work!!!

Many thanks...yes, my work goes into a gallery here in the Portland area...a gallery that features only mixed media artists who work primarily with recycled kinds of materials. Come and visit Portland, OR sometime!! Cannibals Gallery, 518 NW 21st !! We now have a gallery youtube channel established where we plan to highlight specific artists each month...

Hi Greg,
Your work is so quirky and zany, I love it! I was wondering if you had any advice for someone who is trying to make an assemblage/diorama? I've currently working on a project and I was wondering if there was anything I need to look out for/be aware of?
Cheers man, keep up the rad stuff!

Hi, thanks for your interest in my work. My only advice to others when I'm talking about my work is to "have enormous fun with it." My work is really all about my own "playtime" with the old photos and stuff that I've collected through the years...mostly from summertime yard sales and a couple good junk shops, etc. I have a youtube channel where I've put together some of the specifics of my own approach to creating assemblages...there are several short vids there that offer more specific kinds of advice...that might be of interest to you....

I'll be interested in seeing your first assemblage !!
